The Ram is only well known because it is part of the zodiac. 1\u00b0 southeast of \u03b7 Arietis is a neighbor of our Sun which wasn\u2018t discovered until 2003 \u2013 Teegardens Star is seven to ten light-years away and only 15.3<sup>m<\/sup> bright.<\/p>\n<p>The 130 light-years distant binary star <em><strong>\u03bb Arietis<\/strong><\/em> can be separated with 7x magnification. A 4.7 and 6.6<sup>m<\/sup> bright star are 37 seconds of arc apart and form a nice pair.<\/p>\n<p>The two 6.5 and 6.9<sup>m<\/sup> bright stars of <em><strong>30 Arietis<\/strong><\/em> are even easier to separate than \u03bb Arietis \u2013 39 seconds of arc separate the pair. The binary is just like \u03bb Arietis only 130 light-years away. It is a good example to demonstrate how much the color perception varies between different observers. The two stars are often described as colorless or yellow, but some observers see them as yellow and violet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>53 Arietis<\/em><\/strong> is one of the \u201eRunaway Stars\u201c, just like \u03bc Columba, AE Aurigae and HR 2688. These four stars emerged in the Orion Nebula and flee unusually fast from their place of origin. Whether a supernova threw the four stars off course, or if another reason has caused their \u201cgetaway\u201d five million years ago, is completely unknown.<\/p>\n<p>53 Arietis is a 750 light-years distant representative of the Beta Cepheids, whose brightness varies within a period of 3 hours and 40 minutes between 6.1 and 6.23<sup>m<\/sup>. HR 2688 in the Canis Major moves in exactly the opposite direction of 53 Arietis and the star-forming region in Orion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aries is one of the less conspicuous constellations as it contains only three brighter stars.
